4 Day Kruger Park Budget Safari

Pretoriuskop Rest Camp, Kruger Park

About the Tour

This 3-night,4-day Kruger Park Budget Safari starts and ends in Johannesburg and will see you stay at Pretoriuskop Rest Camp which is located in the Southern Region of the Kruger National Park. Pretoriuskop Camp offers some of the most well-known and oldest Kruger National Park accommodation, providing guests with a sense of nostalgia as they surround themselves with this vestige of the area’s past. One such example is the striking red trees, pre-dating the camp’s decision to exclusively use indigenous plants in the park, thus highlighting the camp’s unique character.

Facilities at the camp include activity information at the reception area, public telephones, a post box, a restaurant, shop, a laundromat, basic on-site first-aid assistance, and a swimming pool. Cell phone reception is also available throughout the Camp. Be lucky enough to spot the Big Five on your exciting open vehicle safaris or when you do a Sunset Drive with one of the National Park’s Rangers.

Itinerary

Day 1: Johannesburg to Kruger Park

We depart from Johannesburg between 06:00 – 08:30 to allow for various collection points. Our route takes us through the wide-open spaces of the Highveld, down the escarpment and through the scenic Lowveld area. We stop for lunch en-route (own expense) and reach the Kruger National Park in the afternoon. After settling into your rooms, you go out on your first game drive which is a National Park Sunset Drive. A sunset drive affords you the opportunity to see nocturnal animals that are more active at night and the Park’s rangers are allowed to return after the normal gate closing times. Note that these drives take place in one of the Kruger Park’s vehicles with a Park’s ranger. This is not a private game drive and there may be other guests on this drive. (Children under 6 years of age are not permitted on open vehicle drives.) Dinner is a three-course meal, served al fresco at our private camp within Pretoriuskop.

Included Today: Road Transfer, National Park Sunset Safari, Dinner & Accommodation.

Day 2-3: Morning & Afternoon Safaris

Safaris are all about early mornings, getting out there and seeing animals! After an early wake-up call (the time varies according to the seasons and park gate opening times), we have tea or coffee & rusks (dried biscuits to be dunked in your drink!) We then set off on the morning safari which will take approximately 3-4 hours. Your guide has an intimate knowledge of the park, which contributes a great deal towards brilliant sightings! On returning to Pretoriuskop, breakfast/brunch will be ready at our camp. You then have time to enjoy a swim, catch up on some sleep, visit the park shop which includes African curios, general food items, and drinks or take a walk around the camp. Pretoriuskop is also a bird watcher’s paradise! Be sure to bring along your binoculars! After a siesta, we set off on the afternoon game drive. We conduct all our game drives in specially adapted 4×4 open game drive vehicles to allow our guests the best possible vantage point. We share safari stories at the campfire under the stars after a scrumptious dinner served at our camp.

Included These Days: Morning & Afternoon Safaris, Breakfasts, Dinners & Accommodation.
