Itinerary

Day 1: Johannesburg to Rhino Post Safari Lodge

Today you depart on SA Airlink at 11:35 am from Johannesburg’s OR Tambo Airport to the Kruger Park’s Skukuza Airport. On arrival, you will be met by a representative who will transfer you to Rhino Post Safari Lodge in the Kruger National Park. The transfer is a pleasant drive through the Park. On arrival, you are checked into your rooms before making your way to enjoy lunch.

After lunch, there is some time to relax before departing on an afternoon/sunset safari drive. On game drives, you are able to get a lot closer to the big game. The animals are generally habituated to the vehicle. This means that they are used to the vehicle approaching them and know that it never causes them harm. This enables you to get within five to 10 meters of the large animals – and safely! All game drives are conducted in open 4 x 4 Landrovers. No roof allows you 360-degree views, perfect for wonderful photographic and video opportunities.

On the afternoon drive, you will stop for sundowners. After sundowners guests will get to experience a night drive. The night drives allow guests the opportunity to see the nocturnal animals not encountered during the day. During the night drives, your tracker uses a powerful spotlight to search for nocturnal animals. You can see a wide variety of animals not normally seen during the day, including leopards, hyenas, serval, porcupines, bushbabies, genet cats and nocturnal birds like owls and nightjars. You return to the camp to enjoy a well-prepared dinner which depending upon the weather will be under the stars in the boma area.

Included Today: Flight, Airport Transfer, Lunch, Sunset/Night Safari, Dinner & Accommodation.

Day 2: Morning & Sunset/Night Safaris

Rhino Post Safari Lodge offers early morning and evening safari drives.  Safari drives are conducted in specially adapted open Landcruisers, with professional guides.  To preserve our wilderness concession, no off-roading is practiced.

In addition to driving on our 12,000-hectare concession, we have exclusive use of some of the Kruger National Park public roads at night. A typical day would include an early start, a cup of fresh coffee or tea, after which guests set out on their safari drive. Guides at the lodge meet the stringent requirements of the South African National Parks and senior guides hold the highest guiding qualifications possible in South Africa, to ensure that your encounters with the African wilderness are exciting, informative and safe.

In the late afternoon after a delicious high tea, you can enjoy an evening safari drive, winding down with sundowners, watching an African sunset and spotting nocturnal animals in the Park. One can also combine your experience at Rhino Post Safari Lodge with a stay at Rhino Walking Safaris – our exclusive, tented camp offering an unforgettable guided walking experience, and even a night under the stars at the Sleepout Decks.  These must, however, be pre-booked prior to arrival.
