This 3-night,4-day Safari that starts and ends in Johannesburg will see you stay at Shiduli Lodge which is set against the backdrop of the grandiose Drakensberg Mountain Range. This “home away from home” experience lends itself to a perfect family getaway, with children of all ages welcome.

Shiduli embodies grace and elegance, yet oozes unsurpassed warmth and hospitality. Guests can step into the relaxed ambience of the lodge with its lush indigenous garden dappled in shade, lounges with internet facilities, bar, enormous sparkling pool and thatched dining areas punctuated with original South African art.

Traversing over 9000 hectares of supreme and diverse vegetation, with its three perennial rivers and huge Jackelberry and Leadwood trees, Shiduli is home to the Big 5, as well as a wealth of other smaller creatures and bird species. Shiduli Lodge offers 24 suites, featuring en-suite bathrooms in rich African tones. The secluded Royal Suite lies tucked away a short distance from the main lodge, with its own private deck and splash pool offering unsurpassed luxury and privacy. Day 1: Johannesburg to Shiduli Lodge

Today you depart from Johannesburg’s OR Tambo Airport to Shiduli Lodge on a shared shuttle bus. The bus departs from at 6:45 am, from the bus terminal right outside International Arrivals. The drive takes 6-7 hours and you travel through a few touristic towns en route to the lodge. Of course, you make scheduled and unscheduled stops for the bathroom, to stretch your legs and to buy some snacks or refreshments along the way.

On arrival at the lodge, you will get a brief camp orientation and then checked into your room. There is time to freshen up and enjoy a light snack before you set off on a sunset safari drive in the Safari drive. You arrive back at the camp as the sun is almost completely gone and you can sip on a refreshing drink or coffee at the camp dining area before sitting down to dinner. After dinner, spend sometime around the fire sharing stories of the day before retiring to your room for a good night’s rest.

Day 2-3: Morning & Afternoon Safari Drives

Traversing over the 9000 hectares of the supreme African bushveld, Chisomo is home to the Big Five (Lion, Leopard, Buffalo, Rhino and Elephant) as well as a wealth of other creatures. The open vehicle game drives are perfect for game viewing. Enjoy a sundowner while the sunsets over the magnificent Drakensberg Mountains. The magnificent game viewing makes for perfect photographic opportunities; enjoy the view of the Lowveld from a “kopje” amid the lush vegetation, huge variety of trees and over 365 different bird species. Game drives are conducted with our qualified game rangers and Shangaan trackers – who will share their vast experience of the African Bush and a chance to view Cheetah on foot. Game drives are conducted in open safari vehicles with qualified and knowledgeable guides or go on foot for bush walks and get close to the little 5 and feel the true African bush.

Day 3: Shiduli Lodge to Johannesburg

Enjoy a last morning safari drive and breakfast at the lodge before checking-out and returned to the main gate of the Reserve where your shared shuttle bus departs back to Johannesburg’s OR Tambo Airport.
